This Strymon OB.1 Optical Compressor & Clean Boost is in excellent condition. The OB.1 is a studio-grade optical compressor and clean boost in a compact pedalboard-friendly format. Optical compression is known for its program-dependent, musical response — the light-element circuit reacts to the envelope of the signal in a way that tends to sit naturally in a mix without the pumping artifacts associated with VCA-based designs. The clean boost side adds up to 20dB of transparent gain and can be used independently or in tandem with the compressor section.

Strymon designed the OB.1 around a true optical compression circuit paired with a JFET-based clean boost, a combination that keeps the signal path transparent while adding dynamic control. The compressor offers Tone, Comp, and Vol controls; the boost section adds a dedicated Boost knob. Controls are straightforward and interactive without requiring deep menu diving. The OB.1 runs on standard 9V DC (negative tip) and is built to Strymon's typical standard of robust, touring-grade construction.
