This Mesa Boogie 2x12 2FB Custom EV Black Shadow Loaded Cabinet is in excellent condition. It comes with the original Mesa cover.  It was ordered to match a JP-2C John Petrucci head with the same maple front plate that we just sold.

The 2FB is a front-loaded, closed-back 2x12 cabinet built from marine-grade, void-free Baltic Birch throughout — both the cabinet and baffle. Baltic Birch is a dense, resonant ply that Mesa has long favored for its rigidity and acoustic properties: it minimizes unwanted flex and coloration, letting the speakers do the work. The closed-back configuration tightens the low end and adds focus to the midrange compared to open-back designs, making this format a natural pairing for high-gain heads where definition matters. The maple front plate is a distinctive cosmetic and structural feature of this configuration. The cabinet is loaded with a matched pair of Electro-Voice Black Shadow 12" speakers — each rated at 200 watts RMS for a combined 400 watts. The EV Black Shadow has a reputation for high efficiency, extended high-frequency response, and a notably tight, articulate character. Cone code 79195 is confirmed on both drivers. Both speakers are original to the cabinet.

There are no repairs, changes, or issues with this cabinet. The cabinet, baffle, and grille are all near mint, covered in original black vinyl with the original black weave grille cloth. The rubber handle is original. The included Mesa cover is in excellent condition. No documentation is included.

Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
