Martin 0-17 1948 w/ Cedar Creek case Excellent

This 1948 Martin 0-17 is an all-mahogany parlor guitar in good original condition. Solid mahogany top, back, and sides in a small-body 0-size format with X bracing produces the warm, dry, mid-forward tone these instruments are known for — strong fundamental, quick attack, and a compressed, intimate character well-suited to fingerpicking, blues, and recorded acoustic work. Action sits at 2/32" on the first string and 3/32" on the sixth at the 12th fret — low and comfortable. The guitar plays easily and feels lively.

Martin produced the 0-17 from 1906 through 1948, making this example one of the last of the run. There were 499 made in 1948.  These guitars were marketed as a working-player's instrument at an accessible price point, but the build quality is fully vintage Martin. The 0-17 was discontinued after 1948, so this is a final-year example of a long-lived model. Collector interest in all-mahogany Martins has grown steadily, and the 0-size body remains one of the most practical vintage Martins for regular playing use.

The 0-size body measures 13-1/2" at the lower bout with a 24.75" scale length and 1-5/8" nut width. The fretboard and bridge are Brazilian rosewood — a detail that adds collector value and contributes to note clarity and sustain. Ebony nut and bridge pins, bone saddle, and nickel open-back tuners are all original. The soft V neck profile at .922" at the first fret and 1.039" at the tenth is comfortable and well-suited to period playing styles. Spruce bracing over a solid mahogany body produces a focused, punchy response with good note separation.

Finish is original and in good condition with honest wear — some surface finish wear on the top and back and sides consistent with 75+ years of use, but no cracks, no repairs, and no alterations to any component. Pickguard is original tortoiseshell. No documentation. Comes in a Cedar Creek case (not original) in newer condition. Weight is 3 lbs 6 oz.
