The 1961 Fender Twin Amp 6G8 in rough blonde tolex represents one of the most legendary pre-CBS Fender designs and a pivotal chapter in amplifier history.

Built during Leo Fender’s golden era, this Twin delivers somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 watts of shimmering cleans and rich overdrive through dual 12" speakers. The two-channel configuration includes individual volume, treble, and bass controls, with presence and the most incredible vibrato - features that defined early '60s Fender tone and differentiated these amps from their tweed predecessors.

This example, clad in rare rough blonde tolex with oxblood grille cloth, captures the aesthetic of Fender’s transitional period, predating the blackface era while offering more headroom and flexibility than the tweed circuits. Known for their muscular clean tones and touch-sensitive breakup, early '60s Twins are beloved by players and collectors alike.

In excellent condition for its age, this amp retains its vintage character while being serviced for reliable playability.

The original cover is included.  Someone sewed a thin panel of something sturdy into the front of the cover to better protect the grille.

The rare, original tremolo footswitch is included.

The filter caps have been replaced.  I housed them inside the sleeves of the originals.  The bias caps and bypass caps were replaced in the same manner.  A gray, grounded power cable was installed.  The pots and tube sockets were cleaned, and the original tubes were tested.   The original parts are included with the amp.

The tolex, grille, handle, knobs - everything except for the updated parts mentioned above are original and in spectacular condition.  The amp runs perfectly.  You're going to love it!

Shipping policy:

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  These cases require the buyer to re-install them on delivery - it is very easy with this amp, and we label them so you know exactly where to put them.  We remove the chassis of amps with heavy transformers and ship them separately as their weight can distort the chassis if the box is dropped in shipping.  We remove heavy speakers from amps as they can crack baffles, especially amps with particle board chassis.  These cases require customers to reassemble amps.  It also costs us more.  The shipping cost is higher as a result.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
