Fender 2010 Stratocaster Gene Winfield Wild Cad Purple Sparkle Hard Case Excellent

No sales tax for US customers outside California.

Here we have a truly unique, one of a kind guitar painted by celebrated hot rod master Gene Winfield.

Gene Winfield opened his custom hot rod shop in 1955, the same year the Stratocaster went into full production.  He built or painted some of the most celebrated custom vehicles around, including cars for Blade Runner and Star Trek, and his signature multi-stage fadeaway paint job became the most imitated and least replicable finish in the custom car world.  He passed away on March 4, 2025, at 97.

A raw Fender Stratocaster body, donated by Fender Custom Shop, was taken to Winfield's shop, where he hand-painted the purple sparkle fadeaway scheme of his Wild Cad, the 1959 Cadillac custom that took top honors at the Sacramento Autorama.  Artist Mike Clines then pinstriped the body in 12k white gold with green accents.  The guitar was donated as a charity raffle prize for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Sacramento and Northeastern California through the Vintage Fridays cruise night.

Underneath the paint is a 2010 Fender MIM Stratocaster with original hardware and pickups, plus hang tags and manual.  One pickguard screw is non-original.  The Freedom hardshell case is not original but is in excellent condition.

This is not a production guitar.  It is a documented piece of American custom car history.  There will never be another one.
