The Hot Rod Deluxe is a 40-watt, 6L6-powered combo running through a 12" Eminence Fender Special Design speaker in a solid pine cabinet — a platform known for clean headroom and a bright, articulate character that breaks up progressively as you push the volume. This example has received the Fromel Mod upgrade, which addresses the most criticized stock weaknesses: the volume pot has been replaced with an audio taper unit for smoother, more granular control, the filter caps have been replaced, and additional internal work has been performed as part of the same service. The result is a more usable, better-behaved amp than a stock unit. Overall condition is excellent.
The Hot Rod Deluxe debuted in 1993 and quickly became one of the most widely gigged American combo amps of the modern era. This is a 1993 example — a first-year unit — with the date confirmed by serial number and production codes. Transformers are Schumacher throughout: power transformer code 606/905, output transformer code 606/909, reverb transformer by Marvel Electric Corp (code 989/9910). All four transformers are original. The cabinet is solid pine with original black tolex in excellent shape, original grille cloth, and an original pine baffle. The Fromel Mod is a well-regarded aftermarket upgrade specifically developed for this platform; it is not a hack job but a targeted set of improvements to known design shortcomings.
Cabinet condition is very good, baffle is very good, chassis is very good. Grille is good. Covering and handle are original. Knobs are original. Power tubes are Ruby 6L6s; preamp tubes are two JJ 12AX7s and one Groove Tubes 12AX7. All the tubes were tested, the tube sockets and pots cleaned prior to listing. Reverb tank is original and onboard reverb is functional. The original footswitch pedal is included — good condition — but no cable is included with it. No case or cover is included. No documentation is included.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.
Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
