This 1998 custom shop Tele is one of the better playing guitars in the shop.  It's a looker as well.

The guitar weighs just 6 pounds, 15 ounces.  The body appears to be a single piece of beautiful ash.

The neck is one of the most highly figured Birdseye maple pieces I have seen, and it has great feel as well.

The bridge pickup is a Duncan Antiquity and appears to be hand signed by Seymour himself.  The origin of the neck pickup is unknown - I have to get another look at it because we somehow missed getting a pic of the back of it.

The pots date to early 1998.  We always contact Fender when we get custom shop instruments, especially from this era.  Their record keeping was terrible at the time this guitar was built.  There were no shop traveler forms to help sort out the features.  And, as is often the case, they have little to no information on this guitar.  Their reply was that the guitar is a 1950s reissue from 1997 or 8.  The serial number is on the bridge, and the numbers weren't sequential nor were they tracked that well.  The Gastellum stamp on the neck heal and the overall build of the guitar give us confidence that this is definitely a 1998 Custom Shop Tele.  Furthermore, it came from a collection that includes many custom shop guitars from this period.

All but the pickups is original.  There are no repairs of issues.  Fret wear is minimal.  The guitar set up perfectly and there is room for future adjustment in the truss rod.

This is a great Tele!
