This 1965 Jazzmaster is all original and shows just enough wear to keep it in your stable of go-to guitars.  Built for articulation, the Jazzmaster's floating tremolo, offset body, and dual single-coil pickups produce a tone that sits apart from Telecasters and Stratocasters: broader in the low mids, with a glassy, extended top end and a longer decay. The alder body is original-finish sunburst in very good shape, the neck dates to February 13, 1965, and the overall condition is excellent throughout. This is a fully original-circuit guitar with original pots (CTS 304, dating to weeks 15 and 20 of 1965), original wiring, original solder, and a complete, functional Jazzmaster tremolo system.

The 1965 Jazzmaster sits at a meaningful threshold in Fender history. CBS acquired Fender in January of that year, and while the transition brought gradual changes, early-1965 guitars like this one retain the construction characteristics collectors associate with the pre-CBS era with changes like pearl position markers and binding on the fretboard.  Both pickups read right where they should for a mid-sixties example — neck at 6.23k, bridge at 6.45k — and both date to early 1965 (as do the pots).

The nut is replaced (bone). The frets have been professionally refretted and their condition is excellent. The tortoiseshell pickguard is original and in good condition with slight shrinkage — typical for aged celluloid of this era. The neck finish, body finish, and pickguard screws are all original. The case is a 1964 Fender case with no logo — included but noted as not original to this guitar — in fair condition. It very well could be original, but a no-logo case is more typical with a 1964 example.  The original bridge cover and whammy bar are included.
