This amp was shipped to us and I was absolutely floored when I opened the packages. It is a stunning example — near mint condition on a 1963 Fender Bandmaster piggyback in smooth white tolex, with the original Victoria Luggage Company covers for both the head and cabinet. I went through the head to inspect it and was pleased to find that the previous owner had all the work done that I would have performed myself, done professionally, with original parts left in all the right places. I ran it up on the scope after testing all the tubes and saw a perfect trace. When I plugged in and turned it up I laughed out loud — this thing kills.

The 6G7-A circuit was used from 1960 until July 1963 when the AB763 blackface circuit was introduced — and blonde aficionados consistently feel this circuit has superior tonal characteristics to what followed. The 6G7-A Bandmaster runs two 6L6 power tubes with a solid-state rectifier, producing 40 watts into the 2x12 cabinet with the harmonic vibrato circuit that defines the brownface/blonde Fender character — a complex, lush, pulsating tremolo that the later blackface electro-optic tremolo simply does not replicate. This legendary 40-watt piggyback head delivers rich, sparkling cleans and harmonically complex breakup thanks to its 6L6 power tubes and lush onboard tube-driven tremolo — known for its dynamic response and stage-worthy tone.

Both Oxford 12" speakers are original with original cones — manufacturer codes confirming Oxford production from weeks 32 and 36 of 1963. Original Schumacher power transformer, original Schumacher output transformer, original Schumacher choke, all dating to 1963. The amp has been properly serviced: filter caps replaced, bias and bypass caps updated, power cord upgraded to grounded three-prong. Original pots intact. Sylvania 6L6 power tubes, Lindall preamp tubes. The non-original MIM footswitch is included for vibrato switching.

The smooth white tolex is original throughout — both head and cabinet — in near mint condition that is genuinely rare for a 60-year-old amplifier that was clearly used and cared for rather than stored unplayed. The wheat grille cloth is original and excellent. Original pine baffle, mint. Original cabinet and chassis throughout. The original Victoria Luggage Company covers for both head and cabinet are included — the head cover in near mint condition, the cabinet cover in very good condition.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.

Amplifiers:
We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. All amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
