This is a 1962 Fender Bassman 6G6-B head paired with its original 2x12 cabinet — a matched set from the peak of the blonde-and-wheat Bassman era. The date stamp on the tube chart and all the components date to late 1962, but the amp is really more like a 1963, with the black control panel and smooth white tolex. The amp is in beautiful shape and has been nicely serviced. It runs so solidly and sounds amazing. The only change, which is somewhat inexplicable to me, is the changed grille cloth on the cab. It must have had a hole in it - the amp is so clean that it doesn't seem like a change would typically be necessary.
The 6G6-B runs 50 watts through a pair of 6L6 power tubes with a straightforward preamp topology that'll give you nice, clean headroom, touch sensitivity, and a wide, open low-midrange, but it will also roar with loads of output distortion. The cabinet has the original Oxford 12" speakers, both dating to the 42nd week of 1962 by their manufacturer codes, and the closed-back 2x12 format focuses the bottom end in a way that distinguishes this configuration from the open-back Bassman combos.
Both head and cabinet are in excellent condition. The blonde tolex is original on both pieces, and the pine cabinets are original and unrepaired. The head retains its original wheat grille cloth; the cabinet grille has been replaced. All knobs, handles, and potentiometers are original. All three transformers (power, choke, and output) are original Schumachers with codes consistent with 1962 production. All the electrolytic caps were changed out prior to the amp's arrival here, along with the screen grid resistors and the power cable. All the tubes are likely original to the amp and they all test out perfectly.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.
Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
