This 1962 Epiphone Coronet is a rare and highly desirable early solidbody from Epiphone’s golden Gibson-era production, built in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A direct competitor to the Gibson Les Paul Junior, the Coronet features a lightweight mahogany body, set mahogany neck, and a single original P-90 pickup that delivers raw, articulate vintage tone with unmistakable bite and clarity. Its slim early-’60s neck profile offers excellent playability.

If you're considering a Les Paul Junior or an SG Junior, you owe it to yourself to check out a Coronet.  They absolutely rip, they balance nicely, and they offer the same upper fret access.  These guitars have slipped into undervalued territory for sure - they aren't fetching what they deserve.  We just sold one a couple of months ago, and I was truly sad to see it go.  It was my go-to for amp testing, so for now I've got another example of my "favorite guitar in the shop".

The original P-90 provides punchy mids, crisp highs, and dynamic response that cleans up beautifully with the volume knob while roaring through overdrive. The simple wraparound bridge contributes to strong sustain and a direct, resonant feel.

This example is in excellent vintage condition with just a little honest wear.  The frets were expertly replaced at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in San Jose, CA. The work is perfect.  The original bridge is in the case, and a Music City tailpiece is installed in its place.  The bridge is the most popular wraparound replacement - it offers intonation that the original doesn't.  There are no other changes or repairs.  The neck is perfect and there is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments. Included is the original case, a major plus for long-term value and collectability.

Excerpts from real online user reviews of early 60s Epiphone Coronets:
