Wow, this amp sounds good! These DeArmond amps are rare, extremely well designed and built pieces that rival all amps from the period.
The amp delivers warm, gorgeous clean tones and rich overdrive from two 6V6s through the original Jensen C12R. Power output is about 15 watts.
If you take a look under the hood, you'll notice that the transformers they used on these amps are fat - the amp is pretty well overspec'd, contributing to the godly tone.
The cabinet is finger jointed pine with unique covering.
The chassis of DeArmond amps is coated in a copper-like metallic plating that tends to corrode and flake. While this example shows some such wear, it is cleaner than any other I've seen out there on the web.
We replaced worn tubes and put the amp through its paces. It will need a filter cap job at some point, especially if you want to run the amp regularly. The circuit is so original and the amp so clean, I'm inclined to leave it as-is.
The handle is original. The power cable has been changed to a grounded, three prong cable. The tremolo portion of the circuit was worked on a bit. Otherwise, the amp is original and just about perfect.
