The Ampeg B-15 Portaflex is among the most influential bass amplifiers ever made. This 2012 Heritage Limited Edition — number 2 of 100 — represents Ampeg's highest quality recreation of the original design. These amps bring the tone and look of the original in a tight, new package.

A 30W fixed-bias or 25W cathode-bias all-tube combo driving a 15" Ampeg B-15 speaker in a ported, flip-top cabinet, the B-15 circuit produces the warm, round, fundamentals-forward tone that defined recorded bass from the late 1950s through the 1970s. The 6L6 power section and 6SL7-based preamp deliver a clean, full headroom characteristic distinct from the EL34 or 6V6 voicings of other vintage amp families. The cabinet is in near mint condition throughout, with all original blue checker vinyl covering, silver sparkle grille, select hardwood cabinet and baffle, and original leather handle.

Ampeg introduced the original B-15 Portaflex in 1960, and it became the go-to bass amp for studio work across multiple decades. The Heritage Limited Edition was produced in 2012 in a run of only 100 units, with the serial number stamped on the cab badge. It was designed to replicate the variable-bias switchability of early B-15 production: the 1966 fixed-bias channel and the 1964 cathode-bias channel allow players to access two distinct operating points from one amp. The power and output transformers are Ampeg-branded units built to original spec. The tube complement includes a vintage pair of RCA 6L6 power tubes, vintage Philips 6SL7/6188 preamp tubes, and a Ruby 5AR4 rectifier — all tested and ready to go.

Cabinet, chassis, knobs, potentiometers, filter caps, grille, baffle, and speaker are all original and in excellent condition. No internal repairs have been performed. No smells noted. Power cable and a speaker cable are included. No case or cover is included.

The original hang tag and manual are included

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.

Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
