This 2005 Martin OM-18GE (Golden Era) is a beautifully crafted, vintage-inspired orchestra model that captures the spirit and tone of pre-war Martin design while offering modern reliability and playability. The Golden Era series is known for its forward-shifted scalloped bracing, premium tonewoods, and period-correct construction details, and the OM-18GE stands out as one of the most responsive and balanced models in the lineup. This example is equipped with a K&K pickup system and preamp, making it stage- and studio-ready without compromising its acoustic integrity. The tuning pegs have also bee upgraded
This example presents shows some honest wear and it plays effortlessly from top to bottom. It’s a fantastic blend of vintage-inspired Martin craftsmanship and practical modern performance features. The guitar was purchased new by a friend and former employee, way back in 2005 when I was a Martin dealer. He upgraded the tuners, added the pickup system, and proceeded to play it regularly. This has opened the guitar up nicely.
The original case has had some of its tolex nibbled off by varmints.
The mahogany back and sides deliver a focused, woody midrange with clear, articulate highs and a tight, supportive low end. The OM body size offers excellent balance and note separation, making it ideal for fingerstyle, flatpicking, and light strumming. It responds beautifully to touch, rewarding dynamic playing with clarity and warmth across the fretboard.
As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally set up to play its absolute best.
