Don Mare 2020s Telecaster Broadcaster Bridge Pickup Model 0038

Don Mare's Model 0038 is a hand-wound Telecaster/Broadcaster-style bridge pickup built in the boutique tradition of honoring original Fender lap steel-era construction. Vintage-correct Alnico pole pieces, cloth-covered lead wire, and careful winding specs produce the bright, cutting, steel-forward tone that defined early Telecaster bridge pickups — sharp attack with a glassy top end and enough midrange presence to cut through a mix. This example is in excellent condition.  The pickup was installed in a Tele that arrived here so we tried it out before returning the original pickups to that guitar - this thing rips!

Don Mare is a small-batch winder operating out of California with a strong reputation among Telecaster enthusiasts for period-accurate reproduction pickups. The Model 0038 designation references the winding approach tied to the original Broadcaster-era Fender bridge pickups — the earliest commercial solid-body electric guitar pickups produced, predating the Telecaster name itself. These are hand-built in limited numbers and consistently regarded in the boutique market.
