This 1960s Danelectro Convertible is a wonderfully quirky and highly musical vintage instrument that captures everything players love about classic Danelectro design: lightweight comfort, simple construction, and tons of personality. The Convertible is especially beloved for its unique hollow, almost acoustic-like voice, making it a favorite for songwriting, recording, and roots-oriented playing where character matters more than brute force.
This example is as clean as they come. It's pretty stunning, actually. The neck finish is there in full, almost as shiny as it was when it was new. The frets show very light wear. Everything is original and it all works perfectly. If you're looking for a Convertible - this is the one!
The single lipstick-style pickup delivers clear, woody tones with a fast attack and an airy, open quality that sits beautifully in a mix. Strummed chords have a dry, percussive snap, while single notes are articulate and expressive, with a slightly lo-fi charm that records exceptionally well. The hollow body adds resonance and warmth, giving the guitar a voice that bridges the gap between electric and acoustic textures. The neck is comfortable and inviting, encouraging long, relaxed playing sessions and rewarding a light, dynamic touch.
As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally evaluated to ensure it plays its absolute best.
