This Ampeg J-12-D in excellent condition throughout: the original blue checker vinyl covering is intact, the blue sparkle weave grille is undamaged, and the birch plywood cabinet and baffle are both original and in excellent shape. The chassis is original, unmolested, and also in excellent condition. The amps is a 20-watt, all-tube combo built around two 7868 pentodes and two 6BK11 triode-pentode preamp tubes — a configuration that produces clean headroom with a firm, detailed midrange character typical of Ampeg's mid-sixties guitar lineup - plus onboard tremolo.
Dating to 1966 per the serial number and component date codes, this is a fully correct mid-decade example. These amps are increasingly sought by players who want a vintage American tube combo that isn't a Fender, and by collectors focused on Ampeg's guitar amp output before the brand pivoted almost entirely to bass.
The original speaker is included but needs a recone and is not currently installed. A non-original Warehouse American Vintage G12C (12") is installed and in excellent condition. The leather handle has been replaced. The filter cap can and other electrolytic capacitors have been replaced as a maintenance upgrade. Knobs and potentiometers are original. Power and output transformers are both original Electrical Windings units (PT-110 and OT-151A respectively). The power cable has been updated to a grounded three-prong. No case or cover is included.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.
Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
