This 1962 Gibson Les Paul Junior is a gorgeous piece and a killer player.  These light, resonant guitars absolutely rip.  They're the lightest, most comfortable guitars to play.  This one is particularly gorgeous with no issues, breaks, repairs, and strong cherry color.  

Models from 1961 and the first half of 1962 carried the "Les Paul Model" designation on the headstock — the SG body shape introduced in 1961 initially retained the Les Paul branding despite Les Paul himself having no input in the new design. A 1962 SG Les Paul Junior therefore exists in one of the most historically interesting transitional windows in Gibson's production history — the new sharp double-cutaway body carrying the old name, the instrument that would eventually become simply the SG Junior still identifying itself as a Les Paul product. The all-mahogany SG Junior sported a single bridge-position P-90 pickup, wraparound tailpiece, and an unbound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays — approximately 6,100 were shipped between 1961 and 1963.

The dog-ear P-90 reads 8.38k — correct and healthy for an original Gibson P-90 of this era. These were fitted with a dog ear P-90 pickup on a resonant lightweight mahogany body — the budget model of the new SG line that quickly became a rock and roll workhorse. One pickup, one volume, one tone, wraparound bridge. The circuit is the minimum required to make a guitar sing, and the P-90 into lightweight all-mahogany construction delivers a specific and irreproducible tonal character — bright but warm, punchy, responsive to pick attack, and dynamically alive in a way that humbuckers and heavier guitars simply don't produce. The original pots, wiring, and output jack are intact and original. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl dot inlays is in excellent condition. 

The bridge currently on the guitar is a Music City reproduction — the original bridge is in the case. The pickguard currently on the guitar is a reproduction — the original is in the case. The nut has been replaced with nylon — the original is in the case. Tuner screws are non-original; the Kluson Deluxe tuners themselves are original, with reproduction Klusons also included. The 60s slim mahogany neck at .810" at the first fret and .888" at the tenth is fast and comfortable. Black reflector knobs are original. Action set at 2/32" on both strings at the twelfth fret. At 5 lbs 10.5 oz this is an exceptionally light and resonant instrument. Non-original 1970s Gibson hardshell case in very good condition.
