Fender 1965 Stratocaster Sunburst Non-Orig Hard Case, Very Good

This Fender 1965 Stratocaster in Sunburst is a beautiful piece with a change or two that bring the price down from perfect examples.  The original finish is gorgeous, as is the Brazilian rosewood fretboard.  It plays and sounds KILLER!

The finish, pickups & covers, neck, pickguard, bridge, tremolo arm, knobs, switch tip, output jack, and jack plate are all original, as are the screws holding all of these parts on the guitar. The pots are from early 1965, but they are honestly not original to the guitar.  They are correct, "crater back" pots, and the capacitor is original.  The pickguard has obligatory cracks from shrinkage.  The neck is dated 2 Jun 65 B, and the middle and bridge pickups are marked 7-14-65. Pickups read 5.38k (neck), 5.75k (middle) and 6.34k (bridge). The maple neck has a C profile and a rosewood fretboard with dot inlays.

Changes and flaws: the Schaller tuners are not original, and there are obvious extra holes in the headstock from the tuner change (see photos). The 5-way blade switch is from the 1970s, and the solder joints are all changed. The truss rod is nearly all the way loose, the neck relief is low, but the guitar plays extremely well. The original frets are worn, but less than you might think.  They are quite playable.

The guitar plays with 2/32" action at the 12th fret on 10-46 strings and weighs 7 lbs 12 oz. It ships in a 1965 Fender case that we had in our stash when the guitar arrived in a non original case - it is in very good condition.
