This all-original Jag really stands out as a beautifully clean example.  The late 60's features - neck binding and block inlays - they aren't for everyone, but I think they really add to the look.

The guitar plays well.  Frets appear to be original and show some wear for sure.  They've likely been milled as well, but there's life left in them for sure. The original trem arm and bridge cover are not included.

The case is a 1964, no-logo Fender case that is not original to the guitar, but it is valuable on its own and it is also in excellent condition.

The one thing that threw me off with the this guitar was revealed when we disassembled it for the pictures, part of our authentication process that makes it easier for you to see what we're really offering - something I think all dealers should do instead of saying, "call for details"  Under the pickguard and bridge there is evidence of some routing, done after it was finished.  The thing is, all the solders look original, and it would have been impossible to do this work with all the wiring and shielding plates in place..  The work doesn't take away enough wood to accommodate different pickups anyway - there doesn't appear to be an obvious reason for this.  Furthermore, the work carries into the tremolo bridge cavity - see the pics.  There is even some finish peeking out in some of the routed areas.

My theory, shared by others I've shown the guitar to, is that either the finish was over-done in the cavities, getting in the way during assembly, or perhaps the initial cavity routing was somehow off, making assembly and insertion of the shielding plates and tremolo difficult.  A quick skim with the router would solve this.  I have seen something like this on one pre CBS Stratocaster in the past - routing in the tremolo cavity area where the trem block would have rubbed because the cavity wasn't quite routed correctly.  Fender would go to great lengths to get a guitar out the door without tossing product.  I wouldn't put this past them.
