These Made-in-Japan Gretsch guitars never fail to impress.  This guitar has killer, low action with beautiful fret work, resonates like crazy, and it totally addictive to play.  If you like this guitar, you should check out the 2013 Black Falcon we got along with this one - it is equally clean and fun to play.

The White Falcon debuted in 1954 as Gretsch's flagship showpiece — built to turn heads at trade shows before anyone expected it to sell. It became one of the most visually iconic guitars in American lutherie, associated with players from Neil Young to Billy Duffy. The G6136DS designation identifies the DynaSonic-equipped double-cutaway variant, produced from 2006 through 2014 at Gretsch's Terada factory in Japan under FMIC ownership. These Japanese-built Falcons are consistently well-regarded for fit and finish and represent the model at a quality level comparable to the pre-FMIC Terada instruments. The DS variant occupies a specific niche within the Falcon family — the DynaSonics produce a noticeably different character than the Filtertron-equipped models, with more articulation and less midrange compression.

Construction is laminated maple throughout — top, back, and sides — which is correct and original for this model. Laminated maple in a fully hollow 17-inch body at 2-7/8 inches deep produces a tonally balanced, well-projected sound with good sustain and controlled feedback response compared to thinner-bodied hollowbodies. The neck is a 3-piece maple with an ebony fretboard, 12-inch radius, and 1-5/8-inch nut width. Neck profile is a standard U-shape measuring .826 inches at the first fret and .990 inches at the tenth — a comfortable medium-full profile. The Space Control roller bridge sits on an ebony base and allows string height and intonation adjustment without sacrificing the floating configuration. The Gretsch Cadillac G tailpiece, gold Grover Imperial tuners, gold sparkle body binding, and mother-of-pearl hump block inlays with feather engraving are all original and correct for the model.

This guitar is in near mint condition throughout. The original white finish shows no cracks, checking, or significant wear. All hardware — tuners, bridge, tailpiece, knobs, switch tip, pickguard — is original and in excellent condition. Electronics are original and unmodified; all solder joints are original. No repairs to neck, body, or fretboard.

There are no issues to report. Action is 2/32 inches on both the first and sixth strings at the 12th fret, strung with 10-46s. Weight is 7 lbs 11 oz. Includes the original Gretsch case in excellent condition, certificate of authenticity, and original tags. No case odor.
