Fender Presicion Bass 1967 Sunburst Vintage P Bass

This killer 1967 P Bass came to me at a recent guitar show from the wife of the original owner - a sweet woman who had lost the love of her life.  Her story literally brought me to tears in the middle of the recent San Rafael guitar show.  I assured her that I'd find a good home for this one.  

The bass didn't get a lot of play as the original owner was a home builder.  He and his wife built many homes and ran their small business as a team.  Their life together was spent mostly in that effort, though the bass was his prized possession.

Its a really good one - the weight is in the pocket at 8 pounds, 7 ounces.  It isn't the lightest P bass, but it is very comfortable to play, and when I first held it I assumed it was lighter.

The frets show little wear.  We gave them a nice polish as they had tarnished from sitting for years, unused.

This bass came to us with a 60s Fender pickguard in white with a pearloid back layer.  This caused some consternation amongst potential customers, so we have sourced an original tortoise guard.  There is no under-pickguard shield, but the rest of the bass is original.  There has been some solder work done on the pots, and a ground wire added as the shield would normally have provided a ground connection for the pots and output jack.  

No new holes were added when the pickguard was changed out.

Anyway, everything else on the bass is certainly original, and the bridge and pickup cover are included.  Pickups and pots date to 1966.  The neck date is October '67.

The case is a 70's Fender hardshell.
