These brown Fender Princeton amps are right up there on my list of vintage favorites.  This one is really nice too - extremely clean!  I went through it myself prior to listing, maintaining it with an eye on keeping it as original as possible while making it reliable for the next owner.  The work I did, depicted below, would cost a good amount of money if you had to pay a tech, making this a solid investment.  All the tubes were tested and everything was cleaned: pots, tube sockets, and jacks.

This 1962 Fender Princeton 6G2 is a 12-watt, single-channel tweed-era-adjacent brownface amp built around two 6V6 power tubes, a 5Y3 rectifier, and a 10" Oxford speaker. The brown tolex cabinet, pine construction, and hand-wired circuit produce the hallmark brownface character: warm, compressed clean tones with a smooth, harmonically rich breakup that comes on at manageable volumes. Tremolo is onboard and functional - it sounds killer in these early 60s amps!

The 6G2 Princeton specifically uses a cathode-biased output stage with 6V6s and a 5Y3 tube rectifier, a combination that introduces natural compression and sag that solid-state rectification eliminates. These amps are sought after because their low wattage and cathode-biased design push into saturation at volumes where you can actually hear the results in a room.

The cabinet, and baffle are original and in excellent condition. The brown tolex covering is original with no notable damage. The wheat grille cloth is original and clean. The Oxford 10" speaker carries manufacturer code 465 and date code 626, which decodes to the 26th week of 1966 — it is not original to the amp but it is a perfect match. The power and output transformers are both Schumacher units (manufacturer code 606), with date codes of 236 and 237 respectively, dating to early-to-mid 1962 and confirmed original. The chassis is in excellent condition with no holes drilled - no changes. Knobs, handle, and potentiometers are all original.

Overall condition is excellent. The service that I performed includes filter caps, bypass caps, bias cap replacement with the new caps housed in the original cardboard sleeves.  The power cable has been upgraded to a grounded three-prong. Preamp tubes are JJ ECC83s (not original, which is expected and acceptable). Power tubes are Sylvania 6V6s; rectifier is an RCA 5Y3. A new (non-original) tremolo footpedal is included.

No cracks, repairs, or modifications to report on cabinet, baffle, chassis, or grille. The speaker cone is noted as very good condition. Weight is 23 lbs 1.5 oz. Dimensions are 19" wide x 16" tall x 9.5" deep.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.

Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
