Martin D-28 E One of 176 Made in 1959 Fresh Neck Reset & Refret

We took this amazing 1959 Martin D-28 E in a couple of months ago and immediately sent it off for a neck reset, new frets, a new saddle and nut.  It plays perfectly and is good to go for decades! The Martin D-28 E was produced in very limited numbers — this is one of only 176 made. It is a factory-original electric variant of the D-28, equipped with surface-mounted DeArmond single-coil pickups and onboard controls as installed at the factory.

The Brazilian rosewood back and sides are absolutely gorgeous, as is the top. The ebony fretboard and bridge add clarity and sustain. Tuners are original Grover Rotomatics with no headstock modifications. The original tortoise shell pickguard is present. The original case is included and in very good condition with no odor. No cracks on the top or back and sides. This guitar has received a fresh neck reset and refret, so it arrives playing correctly with 2/32" action on both the first and sixth strings at the 12th fret. Overall condition is excellent, with very good top and back/sides and an original natural finish in good shape.  There is wear, dings, and signs of use throughout, but the guitar was well cared for over its 67 years.

The pickups and electronics work nicely, and everything is original.  The pots do get a little crusty when you let the guitar sit for a bit, but cleaner is still effective in working this out.  

The case is not original.  We did learn that the pickups will pop out of their mounting rings when shipped.  We will pack paper into the guitar in an effort to keep them in place during shipment.  They aren't loose or damaged, they are simply wedged into the mounting ring with metal flanges   They don't fall out routinely - it takes some work.
