Gibson Les Paul Murphy Aged LPR-9 2007 Custom Art & Historic '59 Reissue Near Mint

The 1959 Les Paul Standard is the benchmark. Gibson's Custom Art & Historic division began producing meticulous reissues in the 1990s, and by the mid-2000s the program had matured significantly — tighter spec control, hide-glue neck joints, proper long-tenon construction, and period-correct appointments. The Murphy Aged designation means Tom Murphy, Gibson's foremost aging specialist, applied hand-aging to this guitar individually. These are not batch-processed or chemically shortcut — Murphy worked each guitar by hand, which is why aged examples from this era remain among the most sought-after Les Paul reissues on the market. The COA and original tags accompany this guitar.

Construction follows the 1959 spec closely: one-piece solid mahogany neck with a rounded medium C-shape profile (.921" at the 1st fret, 1.022" at the 10th), rosewood fingerboard with aged pearloid/celluloid trapezoid inlays, 12" radius, and 22 historic medium-jumbo frets. The body is solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany — no chambering, no routing shortcuts — which contributes to the sustain and resonance this platform is known for. Single-ply cream Royalite binding runs the body. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge sits on a lightweight aluminum stop-bar tailpiece. Kluson-style single-line, single-ring tuners with keystone buttons are correct for the period reference. Burstbucker 1 reads 8.38k at the neck; Burstbucker 2 is installed at the bridge. Both are covered in nickel. Wiring, solder joints, pots, and output jack are all original.

The guitar is in excellent condition throughout with no changes or repairs. Frets are excellent with no wear concerns. The guitar set up perfectly for us with little effort - it is truly a killer player!  There is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments.  The original case is included and also in excellent condition with no odor.

No issues to report. Action is set at 2/32" on both the 1st and 6th strings at the 12th fret — low and even. Weight is 8 lbs. 15 oz. Nut is bone, no repairs. Pickguard, switch tip, knobs, and all hardware are original and in excellent condition. Strung with 9-46 hybrid gauges. Includes original Gibson hardshell case, COA, and original tags.
