The 5F2-A was Fender's refined take on the Princeton circuit, introduced in 1957 and produced through 1960. It replaced the earlier 5F2 with improved power supply filtering and eliminated the choke, giving the amp more punch and definition. Everyone loves a Tweed Champ, but I'll tell you that a Princeton kinda smokes it and is still small, convenient, and incredibly toneful at low volumes.
This one isn't cosmetically perfect, but it presents well and it runs like a top after crossing my bench for beneficial service. I replaced all the electrolytic caps as they were all leaking voltage. The new caps are housed in the cardboard sleeves of the originals. The power cable was swapped out for a grounded one. I retained the original parts. Tube sockets, pots, and jacks were all cleaned.
The cabinet is pine, original, and in very good condition. Tweed covering is original and intact. The grille is original oxblood in excellent shape. The baffle is original, also excellent. The Oxford 8EV-29 speaker is original to the amp, with manufacturer code 465 and date code 823, dating it to the 23rd week of 1958 — fully consistent with date codes elsewhere on the amp. The original power transformer is a Triad, model number 66079-B. The output transformer and all potentiometers are original. Tube complement is RCA 5Y3 rectifier, RCA 6V6 power tube, and GE 12AX7 preamp tube. The tubes were tested prior to listing to make sure they are good to go.
Overall condition is excellent for a 66-year-old amplifier. The chassis is original and with pitting and some screen printed labeling wear. The leather handle is original. The tweed and cabinet show expected age-appropriate wear but nothing structural or significant. This is a clean, honest example.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.
Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
