A pine-cabinet, white tolex piggyback from 1961 — the 6G7 Bandmaster runs 40 watts through a pair of 6L6 power tubes into a 12" Oxford speaker, delivering the clean, open headroom that made this circuit a studio and stage staple. The square-shouldered cabinet and separate head format produce the balanced low-end and clear upper-mids characteristic of early-sixties blackface-adjacent Fender design, though this is technically a brownface circuit — the 6G7 sits right at the transition point. Both the head and cabinet are in excellent condition throughout. The white tolex is original and presents cleanly, the oxblood grille is original and rates very good, and the pine cabinets and baffles show no repairs or changes.

The 6G7 Bandmaster was produced from 1961 to 1963 and represents Fender's professional-tier piggyback offering of the early brownface era. The circuit employs a tube-driven vibrato — included here with its original footpedal in excellent condition — and no reverb, consistent with the 6G7 spec. The all-Schumacher iron is original and date-coded: the power transformer and output transformer both code to early 1961 (week 45 of 1961), and the choke codes to week 33 of 1961, placing assembly in late 1961. The serial number and component codes independently confirm the 1961 date. The Fender-labeled Oxford 12" speaker dates by manufacturer code 465 (Oxford) and date code 121, consistent with the period. This level of transformer and speaker originality is increasingly rare on working examples of this age.

The filter capacitors have been replaced — this is the only departure from originality on the chassis, and a standard maintenance item on any amplifier of this age. Power tubes are JJ 6L6s; preamp tubes are a mix of JJ and GT ECC83/12AX7. All potentiometers, knobs, handle, chassis, and cabinetry are original with no repairs noted. The power cable is grounded. The amp comes with a homemade form-fitting cover in excellent condition. No documentation or accessories are included beyond the original vibrato footpedal.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.

Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
