Fender 2016 50s Strat LTD Journeyman Relic RW Neck Sunburst Near Mint

This is a Fender 50's Limited Edition Journeyman Relic Closet Classic Stratocaster with a rosewood neck, finished in sunburst. The body is alder, the neck profile is a C-shape with a 9.5" radius rosewood fretboard and clay dot inlays — construction that points toward a warm, mid-forward single-coil tone with top-end clarity. The three Fender hand-wound single-coil pickups (reading 6.16k, 6.24k, and 6.22k at neck, middle, and bridge respectively, all dated 5/12/16) are closely matched. A 25.5" scale length and bone nut round out the vintage-correct spec. The guitar weighs 7 lbs 8 oz — light enough to play comfortably for a full session. Overall condition is excellent throughout.

The Journeyman Relic and Closet Classic designations come from Fender's Custom Shop aging tiers. Closet Classic represents a lighter level of wear — dings and light oxidation consistent with a well-kept but played guitar — while Journeyman Relic sits one step heavier, with more pronounced belt rash, checking, and hardware patina. I always gravitate towards the Journeyman level relic guitars because they just seem more authentic without looking like someone tried too hard.  This example is a '56 Relic with mid-50s Stratocaster specs: alder body, single-ply gold anodized pickguard, Kluson-style tuners, and a bone nut. The body is dated May 2018 per the date stamp The gold anodized pickguard is a nice touch that brings a little brighter tone and eliminates the concern of pickguard shrinkage or cracking down the road. This is a limited edition model with a COA and original case candy included.

We find no repairs, cracks, or modifications on this guitar. All hardware, electronics, wiring, solder joints, pickguard screws, tuner screws, and neck plate are original. The frets are in excellent condition with no repairs noted. The neck pocket, cavities, and fretboard all present cleanly. Action is set at 2/32" on both the first and sixth strings at the 12th fret with 10-46 strings. The original Fender case is included and is in excellent condition with no odor. Documentation includes COA and case candy.

The guitar set up very easily and plays perfectly.  The frets look like there are just a few hours of use on them.  There is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustment.  This one is 100% ready to go!
