Fender 1966 Jazz Bass Sunburst All Original w/Original Case & Strap Excellent

This 1966 Fender Jazz Bass just hit the shop and it is a beauty!  This example dates to late 1965, with a neck date of October 7, 1965.  One potentiometer date codes reading 6542 (CTS, week 42 of 1965), and another dates to the 9th week of 1966.  As is the way with Fender guitars, you have to go with the latest date you find on any part to determine the year, so this is a very early 1966 bass that was mostly built in 1965.

The instrument is 8 small and hidden screw holes from being all original.  At some point, someone put different tuning machines on, adding two holes per tuner.  Otherwise, the body, neck, finish, pickguard, hardware, pickups, electronics, and case are all unmodified. Condition overall is excellent.  It is also pretty light at 8 pounds, 15 ounces.  The original bridge and pickup covers are included, even an original Fender strap. The tortoise shell pickguard is original and in very good condition, with one small crack at the treble bout tip — visible in the photos. 

The bass plays perfectly.  The frets show very little wear.  The truss rod has room for future neck relief adjustments.  It is a nearly perfect example!
