This Epiphone 1999 Sheraton John Lee "Boogie Man" Hooker Signature #43 of 220 in Ebony is in very good condition and plays better than any imported, modern Epiphone I've come across.
This is a numbered limited-edition signature model — #43 of a run of only 220 — and it carries several distinguishing signature-specific appointments throughout. The pearloid truss rod cover is inscribed "John Lee Hooker," and the vintage mother-of-pearl pickguard carries a raised E logo. The V-block inlays in pearloid and abalone are a hallmark of the Sheraton line, and the 5-ply body binding is in excellent shape. The bridge pickup reads a notably hot 13.37k, while the neck comes in at 7.94k — an asymmetric pairing that gives the guitar a wider tonal range than a matched set would.
The original finish is intact. There are no repairs to the neck, fretboard, or frets. The neck and fretboard are both in excellent shape; there is a binding ding at the 2nd fret and some checking present on the fretboard binding. Frets are very good with no repairs done. Action is 2/32" on both the 1st and 6th strings at the 12th fret. The Grover tuners are original but show some oxidation. On the electronics side, the potentiometers, tailpiece, and knobs are not original. Both volume pots have had push/pull coil-split switches added, and the bridge pickup tone control has been disconnected and is not functional.
The original Epiphone hardshell case is included and is in very good condition with no smell.
