This 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior in a Refin TV Yellow finish captures everything players and collectors love about vintage Juniors—raw tone, simple design, and unmatched playability.

The guitar weighs under 6.75 pounds and rings like a bell!

This guitar got the treatment and was lovingly restored by someone with some amazing woodworking skills.  The end product is worth the effort - this is a lightweight beast with the killer 59, fat neck that rips!

The guitar had two humbuckers in it at one point.  The cavities were expertly filled and the bridge pickup spot re-routed.  A switch was added, as well as a volume pot.  There was once a stopbar tailpiece and a tuneomatic bridge on the body in place of the wraparound bridge.  Holding the guitar at the right angle, you can only very faintly see the filled holes.

The original P-90 made it back into the guitar, along with the correct pair of 1959 pots and a bumblebee tone cap.  The old wood and these components give this guitar the vintage voice we all know and love.

The original pickguard is included, but it was chopped for the neck pickup and a piece was grafted on to make it whole.  It looks terrible on the guitar so we put the repro pickguard on it.

The tuning machines and the strap buttons are original parts.  The backplate looks like it might be original.  The knobs and the bridge are not original.  The wire from the pickup to the control cavity is not original.  The output jack plate is original, and the truss rod cover looks correct as well..

The frets were professionally changed.  The Brazilian rosewood board is original and its gorgeous.  The nut was replaced, likely during the refret process.

The neck is the chunky one you'd expect from a '59.  The guitar plays perfectly and there is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments.

An opaque yellow finish was selected for the refin due to the wood replacement that had to be done to the body - the finish conceals the work nicely.  It is a nice, nitro finish so it'll age well.  Though it is hard to say for sure, it appears that neither the neck or the neck heel ever sustained damage.  The transitions in both locations are clean and correct looking.  The logo was added in the refinishing process.

The guitar came in with a terrible L6S case from the 70s so we paired it with an SKB case that is intended just to get the guitar to you safely.  It is no prize.

Grab this player to absolutely rip on stage with vintage tone and feel without a care in the world.

Originally designed as a student model, the Les Paul Junior quickly became a rock ’n’ roll icon, thanks to its solid mahogany body, chunky neck profile, and screaming P-90 pickup that defined countless classic recordings.  The single cutaway design ensures easy access to higher frets, while the lightweight mahogany body resonates with punchy midrange and sustain.

Professionally inspected, set up, and documented by Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, this guitar is both a killer player’s instrument and a piece of Gibson history. Whether you’re chasing the tones of Leslie West, John Lennon, or Billie Joe Armstrong, this 1959 Junior delivers the unmistakable growl that only a vintage P-90 can provide.
