This 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony finish is all original and in excellent condition. Also known as the “Black Beauty”, the guitar exudes timeless style with its multi-ply binding, gold hardware, and elegant block inlays.

Built in Nashville, this Custom features a carved maple top over a solid mahogany body, a three-piece mahogany neck with volute, and an ebony fingerboard—delivering unmatched sustain, clarity, and definition.

The original patent-number Tim Shaw humbuckers produce the rich, commanding tone that made the Les Paul Custom a stage favorite for hard rock, blues, and fusion players alike.

This guitar has been meticulously maintained, showing only light playwear, and includes its original hard shell case.  The frets show light use but are nowhere near needing work.  The neck is straight and the thickness is between Gibson's 60s neck and that of a '59.  The guitar set up with just about the lowest action we've ever seen on a Les Paul and it rings like a bell.  There is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments.

There are no changes, repairs, or issues whatsoever.  This one is excuse-free!  The original Protechtor case is included.

The Les Paul Custom—introduced in 1954—was Gibson’s top-tier solidbody model, earning its “Black Beauty” nickname for its sleek look and luxury appointments. By 1980, the model had become a favorite of players like Randy Rhoads, Peter Frampton, and Ace Frehley. These late-Norlin-era Customs are celebrated for their massive tone, smooth necks, and rock-solid construction.
