The 1968 Fender Showman Silverface Drip Edge is one of the most iconic tube amps of its era, delivering the unmistakable clean headroom and power that defined late-’60s Fender tone. Introduced just after the CBS takeover, this model features the early “drip edge” aluminum trim, classic silverface styling, and a tube circuit that retains much of the warmth and sparkle of the earlier blackface Showman amps. Known for pairing perfectly with surf, country, and rock players, the Showman’s massive output and glassy clarity made it a stage favorite for artists who needed volume without sacrificing tonal purity.

The circuitry in this amp is the same as the blackpanel amps made in the years prior, giving you mid-60s tone at a slightly better price point.

The amp has been serviced.  Filter caps are updated.  Electrolytic bypass, bias caps, and grid resistors were updated as well.  There is a new, grounded power cable.  The tubes were tested, tube sockets cleaned, and the pots were cleaned as well.  This represents a significant cost savings - all vintage Fenders need this work and you could pay up to a few hundred bucks on this with your local tech.

The amp sounds great and works just as it should.

This example from 1968 remains in vintage condition, tested and inspected for reliable operation. Whether you’re a collector seeking a transitional Fender amp or a guitarist looking for a legendary platform for pedals and clean tones, the Silverface Showman is an outstanding choice.

Shipping policy:

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  These cases require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
