ProCo 1998 RAT 2 Flat Box USA Distortion Pedal Very Good

The ProCo RAT has been in continuous production since 1978 and has never really fallen out of favor — a distortion circuit built around the LM308 op-amp that produces a specific, aggressive, harmonically rich clipping character that players from Jeff Beck and Thom Yorke to Graham Coxon and Dave Grohl have used on landmark recordings. The RAT 2 is the refined version of the original RAT, adding a clipping LED and the Filter control that replaced the original Tone knob — Filter sweeps from bright and cutting to dark and woolly, running in reverse from what most tone controls do.

The 1998 USA-made flat box designation identifies this as Kalamazoo-era production — the period before ProCo's manufacturing moved to China, and the version that collectors and players specifically seek out for the LM308 op-amp and build quality of that era. Very good condition. The battery compartment cover has been replaced. Tested in our shop - ready to use.  No power adaptor included.
