This guitar just arrived but has already stunned us and a few customers as well.  To find a piece that is nearly 100 years old in this condition is not only remarkable, it is also a lot of fun!

The guitar is all original with the exception of the added strap button on the neck heel.  While that is somewhat disappointing, it is something that could be made to basically disappear, and it is outweighed by the otherwise stellar condition of the instrument.

The 2-17 is known as the first Martin guitar to be designed for use with steel strings.  Parlor guitars of this period are really fun to play, but one with steel strings is a whole different experience.  The guitar is so light and resonant - it rings like no other I've handled.

The original bar frets are in excellent condition.  There are no cracks or repairs anywhere on the guitar.  The bridge is stock, as is the bridge plate.  It presents like a guitar that is just a few years old, but the craftsmanship and vibe are very much apparent in person.

Mid 20s models have the nicer appointments like this one - the rosewood binding for example.  Later models were simplified as the Great Depression approached, allowing Martin to reduce the price for the model.  My research found that there were about 600 of this model made in 1925.

Non original hardshell case included.
