Komet Silver Cloud Limited Edition 2020 w/ 4x12 Cabinet

This amp - it is simply bonkers.  It is marked as #14 of a sold-out, limited run of 30.  It is truly sad that just 30 were made, because tone this good should be available to more ears.

The Komet press release below mentions harmonic complexity and touch sensitivity.  They couldn't have been more modest.  In addition to the physical feel of the sound the amp produced, the detail and complexity of the tone was what immediately jumped out at me.  There is so much here.  We're just going to have to post a demo.

The build quality is impeccable.  Check out the gut shots we posted.  These guys don't mess around.  The fit and finish of the chassis and the cabinets is top notch as well.  This is a stunning setup!  It is in like-new condition too.

"Komet Amplification is proud to announce their 20th Anniversary, Limited Edition, "Silver Cloud" amplifier.  This is our new KT88 amplifier that we have been voicing and perfecting for the past three years.

Specifications:

• Two, KT88 pentode power tubes in the output section - biased in true Class A.
• Power tubes are individually cathode biased. This gives a very tactile, smooth response to the player’s touch, while eliminating the need for adjusting bias current.
• The Komet "Silver Cloud" was designed for big, clear bottom end, complex midrange, and detailed, shimmery highs. To achieve this we we employ a proprietary, wide bandwidth output transformer of massive size.
• Power output of the Komet "Silver Cloud" is approximately 55 Watts maximum.
  There is no global negative feedback circuit in the Komet Silver Cloud. This allows for maximum harmonic complexity and touch response.
• The Silver Cloud’s controls include a full tone stack with Treble, Middle and Bass controls. In addition to that, there’s a tree position Bright switch and a global Hi-Cut control.
• The “TSB” (Tone Stack Bypass) control allows the player to gradually bypass the tone control section of the amp. This will increase the gain and midrange of the amplifier, retaining the amplifier's harmonic complexity.
• Custom covered in levant, silver Tolex with a select flame maple front and back panel.

As for the speakers in the cabinet, they are Starfinder DG 12A 12" drivers with cast aluminum frames from Rawson Sparfield - painstakingly designed to replicate famous Fane speakers.  They're available new for $389 each from the manufacturer, plus shipping from the UK, plus import costs.

From the Rawson Sparfield website: "The all new "Starfinder" DG12A cast aluminium basket 100w 12 inch guitar speaker featuring extra high power anisotropic ferrite magnet, 2 inch voice coil and 20,000 gauss is painstakingly reproduced to the same specification as its predecessor, the "CRESCENDO"12A that was instrumental in producing that unique early Floyd sound.

This driver has been thoroughly researched in every detail possible and every component recreated to exacting standards, they are even magnetised on the machine that the original Fane company used back in the '60s and '70s."

We'll be at the Nashville vintage guitar show in March.  Our gear makes its way across the country the week before.  It is possible to arrange a drop off on the way, to meet at the show, or to hand off the amp in the Nashville area. 

Also, the truck will come back through Northern California on the way back from the show, so the amp could hop on the truck then and be delivered in some areas of Oregon or in the Seattle/Tacoma area. 

We can arrange delivery anywhere in Northern California with quick turnaround - just reach out and we'll make a plan.

I am not interested in splitting up the head and cab.

Shipping policy:

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  These cases require the buyer to re-install them on delivery - it is very easy with this amp, and we label them so you know exactly where to put them.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
