This early Kentucky mandolin is pretty rare.  Dubbed the Fern for the inlay designs that mimic classic Gibson mandolins.

The instrument is made of carved, solid spruce and maple.  It has aged really nicely - check out that yellowed binding.  All the parts are original to the instrument.

The frets do show wear.  They are not in imminent need of replacement, however.  The original pickguard is starting to decay, as is typical.

It does seem that, at some point, this mandolin will need a neck reset.  The action is good now, but the bridge saddle is lowered all the way to the base of the bridge.

Prices on these range up to $2000.  I've priced it competitively considering that it will need a neck reset, perhaps farther in the future for a non professional musician, sooner for a pro.

Includes a nice hardshell case that I assume is the original
