The Ibanez Artcore Expressionist series sits at the top of the Artcore lineup — the version of the semi-hollow platform where Ibanez commits the premium appointments that separate a serious working instrument from a student-grade archtop. Extremely playable and sharp looking!

The AS93SP-BK in black is the Expressionist configuration with the full treatment: bound Macassar ebony fingerboard with Tree of Life inlay, gold Super 80 humbucker covers with the engraved "Flying Finger" detail, Gibraltar Performer bridge with Quik Change Classic tailpiece, and the flip-open hatch truss rod cover that is either a genuinely clever piece of engineering or the kind of detail that makes you smile every time you open the case — probably both.

The Super 80 passive ceramic humbuckers read 7.49k neck and 7.72k bridge — closely matched and in the warm, balanced range for a semi-hollow application. The ceramic magnet structure produces a brighter, more present high end than Alnico alternatives, which suits the Artcore's semi-hollow body character well — the resonant linden body naturally contributes warmth and sustain, and the ceramic pickups provide the articulation and note definition that keeps the overall voice clear and present in a mix. The three-piece Nyatoh/maple neck in C profile at .844" at the first fret and .996" at the tenth is comfortable and fast, and the 24.7" scale length sits between Gibson and Fender standard dimensions for a slightly relaxed feel. Macassar ebony fingerboard with Tree of Life inlay, 22 frets at 12" radius, 1-5/8" nut, action set at 2/32" on both strings at the twelfth fret. At 7 lbs 8.5 oz this is a well-balanced instrument.
