Own a piece of Gibson history with this 1964 SG Special, featuring the desirable stopbar tailpiece, dual P-90 single-coil pickups, and classic Cherry finish.

The guitar is extremely clean, showing far less than average wear and strong color to the cherry finish.  The original frets are in killer shape.  This is an excuse-free beauty.

As one of the earliest SG models introduced in 1963–64, this SG Special delivers the warm, snappy tone and punchy midrange that made it a favorite among blues and rock players. Its solid mahogany body and neck offer natural resonance and sustain, while the slim-profile “C” neck and rosewood fingerboard ensure comfortable playability.

This example remains completely original—complete with factory-installed P-90s, Kluson tuners, and wraparound stopbar.  There are no breaks, repairs, or issues whatsoever.

The original chipboard case is included, though the handle is missing.  A hard case is included as well.

Fully serviced, set up with fresh strings, and ready to rock, this 1964 Gibson SG Special is a rare find for collectors and players chasing authentic early SG mojo.

Shipping policy:
There are two shipping cost options for purchases made on our site for these states and those to the east of them: Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.  Select Standard shipping at checkout and your item will be shipped via UPS three-day-air.  Select Economy shipping and your item will ship via UPS ground.  For Reverb purchases, there is one cost option for these Eastern states and shipment will be made by UPS three-day-air.  Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
