This 1962 Gibson Melody Maker has been played enough to give it the killer vintage look.  It has been pretty well cared for just the same.

The serial number on the guitar falls in the range for a 1962, but some numbers from this series do bleed into 1963.  The pots date to the 41st week of 1962, so it is likely right on the cusp of 63 and 63.

A very nice refret was performed at one point.  They currently show little wear and play perfectly.  The neck feels great, with the early 60s 1 11/16" nut and a great shape that is thicker than Gibsons from the earlier 60s but not severely chunky.

The electronics are all original with one solder touched up where a ground wire popped off.

The wraparaound, "lightning bolt" bridge is a reproduction, which is necessary for proper intonation with wound G strings.  The tremolo arm is also a reproduction part.  All other parts are original to the guitar.

The neck is straight and the truss rod has room for future relief adjustments.

The case appears to be from a later guitar, but could also be original - I'm not certain.  It is definitely a Gibson Melody Maker case.
