This is a beautiful example of Gibson's iconic, slope-shoulder dreadnought.  There are no cracks and the finish is original throughout with no overspray.

I believe the frets may have been replaced, and if so the work is perfect and period correct.  The bridge pins are changed.  The bone nut may also be a very professional replacement. Other than that, the guitar is all original.

The guitar plays so well and sounds amazing.  It has the look too.  It hasn't been babied - it has been played - but it was kept from the ravages that have caused others to need bridge work, finish work or crack repairs.

The frets are in great shape, which is why I think they've been changed.  They do show wear, but there is a lot of life left on them.  The fretboard does show some pitting, particularly in the lower register, another reason why I think the frets have been changed - there is simply nowhere near enough wear on the frets to coincide with the fretboard wear.

That woody, chuggy tone you'd expect is present in this J-45.  The neck is big, thickness at the 1st fret is similar to Gibson reissue Les Pauls like R8s and R9s.  It feels fantastic, it is worn just right.

The bridge and bridge plate are original.  There is plenty of adjustment left in the adjustable saddle, and the action is right on.

The case did not come to me with the guitar.  I had it in my stash and added it to make this the perfect 50's Gibson collector's piece.  The guitar and case are both free of smoke smell, but they do have that vintage guitar smell, which I absolutely love and associate with the amazing tone a guitar like this produces.
