I could tell this was a special guitar when I first picked it up.  It just has that feel.

I noticed right away that it has a one-piece ash body, and that neck just speaks for itself.

When we dug in during our verification process we found NAMM written under the bridge.

We then called for the spec list from Fender, which we've printed to put in the case and pictured here.  The email came in from Fender with the intro: "This guitar is from a very limited run of two models in 2002, therefore it does not have a floor traveler. I did find the specs and I have provided them below. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you."

The spec sheet highlights:

  • Model Name: Custom Esquire
  • Series: Limited Edition Series
  • COMMENTS: Limited Team Built Custom Shop Run in 2002

So, it is a pretty special guitar, following what I've seen to be a fact that Fender tried to show some of its best work at NAMM.

It is a killer player that has barely been used.  It sets up really well.  Included is a tweed "thermometer" style case, somewhat of a rarity unto itself, and the COA and spec list are in the case as well.  The bridge cover seems to have been lost and is not included.

Email from Fender with specs.  When we first called them, we received a traveler form via email.  I noticed that it was incorrect, so we circled back and received this email:
