We mush be the international headquarters for Fender piggyback amps as we add this amp to the 1963 Bandmaster, 1961 Tremolux, 1962 Bassman, and 1964 Bassman already here. They're all really clean, prime examples.
The 6G9-B is the last of the blonde amp circuits, used before Fender switched to the AB763 blackface circuit in late 1963. This one is date-stamped to January of 1963 and it is in near mint condition with the original Victoria Luggage Company head cover. The cab cover is oddly missing. It must have been used for years - the cab is too clean to have been without it for too long.
The Tremolux is among the lesser-discussed blonde Fender piggybacks, but players who know it prize it specifically. When Fender moved to the 6G9-B circuit with 6L6 power tubes, the relatively lower plate voltages and smaller output transformer compared to the bigger Professional Amplifiers produced a different character — juicy crunch and tactile playing feel at manageable volumes, with the blonde circuit's midrange warmth and presence intact throughout.
Thirty watts from this circuit into the sealed 2x10 cabinet is a killer, incredibly toneful configuration. It is loud enough to gig, manageable enough to record, and with enough tube rectifier sag from the GZ34 to compress and respond to pick attack in the way that solid-state rectification cannot replicate. These brownface circuits deliver a wonderful balance of clarity and grit — clean enough for sparkling articulation, with smooth, musical break-up when pushed.
Both Oxford 10KS-4 10" speakers are original with original cones. The speakers date to mid 1962. The sealed 2x10 cabinet configuration of the 6G9-B produces a different character from the earlier tone-ring single-10 cabinet — tighter, more defined bottom end, more focused midrange. Original Schumacher, powertransformer, output transformer and choke are all intact. RCA 6L6 power tubes, Amperex GZ34 rectifier, GE 7025 and 12AX7 preamp tubes.
Filter caps, bypass caps, and bias cap have been replaced — the correct service approach. Original pots. Power cord upgraded to grounded three-prong. Original rough white tolex, wheat grille cloth, pine cabinet and baffle, plastic dogbone handle — all near mint throughout. Original Victoria Luggage Company head cover in near mint condition included. No footswitch.

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.
Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. All amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
