Yet another Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe stops by for a visit, this one being a real beauty from 1959.
The amp is in remarkably clean condition, thanks in part to the cover that has clearly been with it for decades. The cover somewhat resembles an old Victoria that you'll see with some of our amps, but it is likely a homemade one - albeit a really nice homemade example.
The tweed and grille are original and they're in fantastic shape. The control panel is clean, free of pitting, with clear silk screen labeling. The tube chart remains crisply intact.
Original transformers and most of the internal caps are there, and the filter caps have been updated. The power cable has been replaced with a grounded one in gray, a nice touch as it looks like the original
The original speaker was separate of the amp when it arrived, saved on the side from regular use. It is in beautiful shape, but I do believe it needs to be played in a bit, which we'll gladly do here.
The compliment of vintage, US made tubes has been tested - they all pass the tester test and the ear test.
The handle has been changed to a nice repro, not one of those flat ones that the usual parts houses sell.
