The Epiphone FT-145 from the 1970s is a fine example of the company’s highly regarded Made in Japan era, when Epiphone partnered with Japanese builders to produce guitars with quality and affordability. This vintage FT-145 features a spruce top with mahogany back and sides, offering warm, balanced tones that make it a versatile choice for folk, blues, and singer-songwriter styles.
The mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard provides smooth playability and comfortable action, while the dreadnought body shape ensures strong projection and resonance. Built during a time when Japanese craftsmanship was gaining international respect, the FT-145 has earned a reputation as a durable and great-sounding acoustic that continues to impress decades later.
The lower frets show some divots, but they're very playable and will be good for years to come. We were able to get a good setup on the guitar, and there is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustment if needed.
This particular example remains in excellent vintage condition and comes with its original hard case, a rarity that adds both collector and player appeal. Whether you’re a vintage acoustic enthusiast or searching for a reliable stage and studio guitar with character, the Epiphone FT-145 is a standout find.
At Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, every instrument is thoroughly inspected, professionally set up, and photographed in detail so you can shop with confidence.
