This Martin 000-28 is one of about 250 made in 1975, and it likely has the most amazing looking Indian rosewood back of them all!
The 000-28 is a classic vintage auditorium-size acoustic that delivers the balanced, articulate tone players have loved for generations. Comfortable, responsive, and beautifully aged, the 000-28 sits perfectly between a dreadnought and a small-body guitar, offering rich projection without sacrificing clarity or control. It’s an ideal choice for fingerstyle, light strumming, and studio work where balance and nuance matter most.
The guitar is in beautiful shape. Yes, there are dings here and there, but the guitar has obviously been well cared for. The frets show light use. The pickguard was changed when the original curled into a taco shape. The rest of the guitar is original with no repairs, cracks, or issues. The action is right where you want on a Martin for that big voice with projection. It will need a neck reset some day - they all do - but this one is playing really well and if you care for it will it'll serve you for years as it sits.
The original case is included.
The solid spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides produces a warm, piano-like low end, shimmering highs, and a clear, complex midrange that stays defined even under heavier attack. The smaller body size gives this guitar a focused, intimate voice, while still moving plenty of air for solo performance or ensemble playing. The neck profile is comfortable and familiar, making long sessions effortless and inviting. Like all well-played Martins from this era, it resonates freely with that unmistakable old-wood depth and maturity.
As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally evaluated to ensure it plays its absolute best.
