The 1963 Fender Twin Amp is one of the most desirable vintage amplifiers ever produced, featuring smooth blonde tolex, a brown control panel, and original transformers. Built during the transitional period between the tweed and blackface eras, this Twin delivers the bold, articulate sound that made it a favorite among professional guitarists in the early 1960s.
I've moved through a ton of vintage Fender amps over the years, but likely due to their rarity I've never come across a blonde Twin. This one sounds flippin amazing. The warm, clean tone is unmatched, and it can get some killer, rich overdrive when pushed. The vibrato is sublime, and somehow more dramatic and swimmy than the later brown amps that have similar harmonic tremolo.
Thanks to some changes, this is one rare bird that you can take out and show off.
The transformers are original, and a killer set of Fender labeled 1965 Oxford 12T6-1 speakers add to the tone as well. The speakers were reconed by Speaker Repairs Pros in Orange County, CA.
Included is a nice set of US made, vintage tubes that we tested during our verification process. The brands are listed in the Spec section below.
The filter caps were professionally updated before the amp arrived here. The bypass and bias caps were also replaced, along with the power cable.
Changes that affect the vintage value of the amp include a replaced baffle and back panels. Everything else appears to be original.
Known for its dual 12" speaker configuration and powerful 6L6 tube-driven output, the 1963 Twin Amp provides sparkling cleans, warm breakup, and incredible headroom. The original transformers add to its authenticity and value, making this example especially collectible. The smooth blonde covering and brown panel cosmetics highlight its position in Fender’s evolution of design, offering both aesthetic appeal and historic importance.
This amplifier isn’t just a piece of gear—it’s a piece of history. Perfect for collectors, session players, and live performers seeking authentic early-’60s Fender tone, the 1963 Twin Amp represents the golden era of American amplifier craftsmanship.
At Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, every amp is carefully inspected, photographed in detail, and fully documented so you can buy with confidence.

Shipping policy:
When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping. We remove the chassis from some amps so that the large transformers don't damage a chassis or cabinet. We remove heavy speakers from some amps so they don't damage baffles. These cases result in multiple box shipments, and they require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery. We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure. Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently. Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping. We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions. If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
