This absolutely fabulous 1967 Martin D-28 arrived recently and is the star of the show.

The woods are exquisite.  The top very much resembles red spruce, with its wide grain and coloration.  It is said that the use of red spruce had ended at Martin prior to the production of this guitar, and I don't see a need to end up the subject of a forum discussion, so that is all I'll say on the matter.  The back and sides speak for themselves. 

The guitar is repair free - the only knock is the added strap button at the neck heel.  It does need a neck reset.  With the holidays approaching and our go-to luthier tied up until after the January guitar shows, I decided to list it rather than queue it up for the work.  It will likely sell at the shows, if not sooner!

The original frets are in great shape, so they won't need to be replaced when the neck is reset.  A fret dress would be the smart thing to do when the neck work is being done.  The saddle is low, compensated by a previous owner to counter the higher action.  The bridge is untouched.

As a '67, the bridge plate is the preferred small-maple variety.
