This 1971 Gibson SG "Large Guard" standard is the perfect player's piece.  It has the curb appeal of a perfect vintage guitar. 

This is a super light piece - just 6 pounds, 14 ounces!

You can go ahead and play the heck out of this one, however - or customize it to your liking because it has had a very professional headstock repair.  Furthermore, the original patent sticker humbuckers have been altered to allow for coil tapping.  The bridge pickup tone pot was changed out for a push/pull pot that activates the coil tap of both pickups.  

The frets have also been professionally replaced, which is great because most of these early 70s SGs come in with the lowest frets.  

The only other changed part is the neck heel strap button, which is an aged reproduction part.

The guitar plays perfectly and has the tone you want from a vintage SG.

The case is definitely from the 70s, but it looks like it is maybe originally for a Guild guitar.  It fits the guitar nicely and feels more sound and protective than the original Gibson cases from the period.
