This Super has been in the shop for a bit as there was some service to tend to.  It is now a totally maintained monster that is ready to once again melt faces!

The Super is one of the most coveted Fender tweed amps.  It just has "that" tone, and it has enough juice to hit the stage with more versatility than even the revered 5E3 Deluxe.

"Legend has it the 2×10″ Super was Leo Fender’s personal favorite combo during the tweed era of the mid/late ’50s. The combination of two (or more) 10″ speakers sure has proven a sweet partnership for Fender’s vintage circuits, in several combinations, and the Super also hit a format that was just right for many players: compact enough to be portable, powerful enough to cut it on larger stages. That, and it proved perfect for attaining that cranked-tweed sweet spot for rockers in later years when the excessive volume of a 5F6-A Bassman or a Twin was to be avoided."  Credit: Dave Hunter, Vintage Guitar Magazine

This amp was in the long term care of Bay Area guitar and amp tech, Larry Cragg.  Larry amassed an amazing collection of tweed Fenders throughout the many years he spent on the road with Neil Young.  His rental business put these amps in the hands, in the studios sessions, and on the stages of many of the top artists of the 70s, 80s and 90s.

This amp's tweed is in great shape, despite the use case.  The grille however has been changed, as has the handle.

When it hit our bench, there were some issues, but nothing really all that out of the ordinary.

The speakers are from 1959, Jensen P10Rs that we just had reconed by Speaker Repair Pros in southern California.

The power cable is changed to a gray, grounded cable.  The original power switch failed and was replaced with the original included.

Filter caps have been changed and the originals are included.  One Sprague Orange Drop was removed in favor of something better sounding.  One leaky Astron was replaced.  The rest of the caps were checked for leakage and left in place as they were acceptable.

The rectifier tube is new and the power tubes recent.

The amp runs really strong and quiet.
